My Beautiful Fortress in Italy.
Thanks for stopping by. This space is devoted to my life in the Italian countryside. In the furthest northern part of Tuscany. A region known as Lunigiana. I am a photo/prop stylist and author.
What is happening: Boar fence in Italy.
My vineyard in Italy would be one of the things that make living there so special. I love our red wine (a merlot), and my rosé is the bomb. Of course, my white is delish but the most variable of the three. Unfortunately, last year was not my best harvest. The electrified boar fence was failing (we had an inkling), and boars entered the vineyard and ate about half of the harvest last fall. Devastating. When I was in Italy last week, my vintner, Manolo, asked me to purchase a new boar fence. Of course, I said yes. We are installing it soon; I chose a very sturdy iron fence. Once installed and electrified, the boars will hear the hum and stay away from the vineyard. I was amazed when Manolo said the boars can sense electricity. I am hoping we have a big harvest this year; fingers crossed. Now, it is up to the weather conditions since the boar issue has likely been solved.

La Fortezza Kitchen on YouTube: Pantry Pasta
This week, I made a lovely, oily, flaky fish called Rombo in Italian and Turbot in English. This goofy-looking fish is delicious. I also prepare pickled grilled vegetables from my garden. The recipes are in my cookbook At the Table of La Fortezza. If you’re a paid subscriber, the recipe is below. It is a fun video featuring the La Fortezza Chef Leo. He and I will be back in the Spring making recipes from my upcoming cookbook, The Sweet Life at La Fortezza, a new cookbook featuring desserts from the table at La Fortezza. Available for pre-order in July. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
