Thanks for stopping by. This space is devoted to our life in the Italian countryside. In the furthest northern part of Tuscany. A region known as Lunigiana. I am a photo/prop stylist and author.
What’s happening at La Fortezza this week: It’s fall, and the harvest is done. Some critters invade our property.
The harvest is finished. We were shocked as the wild boars decided that our vineyard was an open buffet. We do have heavy-duty electric fences around the vineyard. But somehow, they infiltrated the boundary and had a feast. ( in the winter, we will look into a more impenetrable solution) Needless to say, the harvest diminished this year. It was still a decent harvest, just not as large as we’d hoped. This year, the boars were everywhere. It was not unusual to see them at the back of the property. The hunters are out in droves every weekend, so I hope we can reduce the population. We had boar for supper a couple of weeks ago with polenta. See below for the recipe. It was delicious.
In other news, I am editing my dessert cookbook. The final title has finally been decided. The Sweet Life at La Fortezza. Beloved desserts served at La Fortezza. Pre-order will be up on the site in November.
We will start filming more YouTube videos next week. The crew will be here for two weeks, and there’s going to be a lot of new content over the winter. Can you believe it’s already October?
