WHATS HAPPENING: Parma Antiques Fair

Last week we had a great time in Parma. One of my favorite cities to visit. I write about it below in this week’s Travel Tip. Twice a year Parma hosts the most amazing Antiques Fair. It’s a week long extravaganza. Really worth the trip. Everything from Mid-Century Modern, the Italian Ancient Antiquities, Vintage clothes and Rustic Farmhouse wares. Furniture from convents and from palaces and everything in between. A feast for the eyes, and yes sometime it is visual overload. You can spend days there. Some of the things are pricey but there are plenty of affordable treasures as well. It is called the Mercante in Fiera. Super easy to find, and park and tickets for a day are twelve euros. There are lovely places inside to lunch or grab an espresso. We opted for a Proscuttio sandwich at the beautiful booth of Rosaangelo. Of course I grabbed a few packages on the way out. I found some amazing rustic fabrics to use in my upcoming dessert cookbook shoot in September. A gorg ceramic cheese dish that will probably be shot with a wedge of cake inside, I can already picture this photograph. We said hello to some of my favorite vendors, including Paolo, whom some of you have met over the years on shopping retreats. He has a huge booth in building five. It was a great day with Frank and Vivi in tow. We headed to Parma about ten minutes from the fair grounds for an Aperitivo and a walk around town. A perfect day in my book. If you have the opportunity I highly suggest to you visit the Parma Mecante in Fiera. Next one is in September. Ciao tutti!
